You really think he'd be better for sitting on his butt all season?

 

He was going to struggle like this if he sat or not.  The game is too fast for him right now and sitting on the bench isn't going to slow it down for him.  I would rather him throw these now and learn.

 

Would his footwork have been better if he sat all year? Maybe.  However I'm not one that's convinced you just change the types of footwork issues he has in a season.  Guys revert back to those bad habits when they've been doing them for years as the pressure comes on.  If they thought he needed major footwork/mechanics changes to be successful I'm not sure he should have been drafted at 3.  I'm not sure he's ever going to have great footwork, it's a habit thing.  Maybe they can fix it, I'm no QB coach.  I don't get a good feeling they can, that's my opinion.

 

I'm also a pro-bottles playing now guy (obviously) and don't have a problem with the issues were seeing.

 

Yes his footwork has been bad.  But a lot of the things and mistakes he's making look to be the defense showing him things he hasn't seen.  The game is still going fast for him and with time he'll learn these things.  My opinion is it's better for him to have the tape to review now and through the offseason versus him having to learn all this in his 2nd year.
