There is a saying about "fighting tooth and nail." That obviously comes from male animals who use their teeth and claws to fight for territorial rights such as bengals and jaguars.

 

No it doesn't. It clearly comes from when the ancient egyptians fought off bears with hammers and nails. The bears would try to bite them (the "tooth") and the egyptians would stab them in the nose with their nails (the "nail"). Those were the same nails they were using to build the pyramids. Bears back then were well-known for attacking groups of egyptians while they built the pyramids and the egyptians had to use the only tools available (the nails) to fight back.

 

I feel like you should brush up on your ancient history.
