Questionable to who? You? What does that matter? The law and NFL policy says he is free to go there.

 

You want to give someone an excuse to drink and do drugs?  Tell them their only form of entertainment is to sit alone at home. He would be doing all sorts of bad things to pass the time.

 

Force him to be lonely and depressed. Lonely and depressed people never turn to drugs or alcohol.
