Fair enough but he had a history of working within the political system. Carson is a complete outsider, and while that's appealing in theory it makes him a long shot to be one of the last one's standing during the primaries. Cain displayed this last time around, he was woefully unprepared for the rigors of a political run at the White House. 
The cynic in me would likely see someone from outside the political sphere as a pure puppet should he get the GOP nod. I just assume both parties just pick who they want to win.  :ermm:
