My major concern is if we are drafting the right guys or if the coaching staff just simply isn't doing their job. For the sake of the franchise, I truly HOPE it is just the coaching staff, which is a lot easier to change than the general manager.

 

My question to my fella message boarders is: What is the medium between "young" and bad coaching? If improvement isn't being made on an individual basis, are the guys just not as talented as we thought when they were drafted, or do our coaches just stink?

It depends on what you mean by improvement? I'm a football purest so I personally feel you cannot grade a guy until his third year to properly say were he is. Any sooner and you may miss out. I remember Branch being a scrub in 2012, lucky in 2013 and now a missing integral piece in 2014.  I see Dennard Robinson and Jockle playing better and more consistent.To me improvement is on a yearly basis not week to week.

 

To answer your coaching question, I would tend to lean towards youth as the problem. The reason being is that so many young guys are playing and the mistakes can start to compound on each other. The rookie linemen missing a block, with a rookie qb not suing the correct mechanics to throw the ball to a rookie wideout using bad technique to come out of a break on a ball that still ran the wrong route lol. I personally have never seen a reconstruction to this level. I do know 1 or 2 rookies can make a team play very poorly even when they have great established players so a team with 5-6 rookies on one side of the ball with no marque players will at time look awful.

 

Then the veteran players are no more than 4 years in themselves. Man lol. I see the potential and know enough time just hasn't passed to properly assess if it's working or not. I just know there is a process that hasn't played out and it would be wrong to judge it prior to it's completion.
