My point is; the playoff system, theoretically, was to eliminate the controversy of selecting which teams played for the title. It doesn't.

 

I look at it like this; those seniors playing their final game in their respective bowls are most likely playing their final game of organized football for their life. What's wrong with half of the teams going into the real work world, chests stuck out in pride, saying we were the Rose Bowl Champs, we were the Sugar Bowl Champs, etc.?

 

With the playoff system those kids are all losing their final game of football except for the one team taking home the trophy. It's amateur football folks, played by kids, let them march into the real world with pride. They won't have another chance.
