Gene Smith and his effect on the current regime.

Quote:Makes you wonder what their plan was when they took over, and what they thought getting rid of good players for inexperienced rookies would produce.Well again you have to think in terms of the future. When you say good productive players what do you mean by that? Monroe has and still is decent. He is not dominant. I remember people called him trash when he was here. Pot Roast; again was he productive here? Is he really good in Denver or is he playing with better players? He was our top defensive player but in Denver he's like 5-6th on that side of the ball. Smith was a future thing. I don't mean to poo on him but was he ever game changing when he was here? Yeah he made a ton of tackles but was he truly a game changer when he played for us? On top of that he was 31 coming off a major injury in his contract year. I guess what I'm saying is that this team has been long over due for a rebuild. For a new foundation to be placed. That 2-14 team in 2012 was not going anywhere and to be honest I'm glad they tore the whole thing down. Right now is not a good time to buy a jersey lol. This is a process and to honest it will take time. I know people don't want to hear that but this is how it works. I'm not going to sit here and say "3 year plan" because honestly there were and still so many holes that I'm not sure we have the fire power to rebuild it up that quick. (Hopefully that will come in this year draft with a trade down getting future picks). Everything happening right now is about 3-4 years from now not the present. As a fan i know you don't want to hear that because you want wins now and so do I. If you concentrate on the idea that these are investments then it will be a little better. You put money in the IRA and it won't pay back tomorrow but in 3-5 years you made a profit. Right now they have invested a ton with this youthful roster. The thinking is that 2-4 years from now it will all mature at the same time. Just how the compound mistakes hurt us now, the compound interest will move us forward in the future. This is how I see it. I take solace in the future and look at the current present as the initial deposit. I have confidence in the return in the future. |
