I don't always agree with Chief, but this is a very valid point.  

 

If you know you're going to gut the roster and bring in a rookie QB within the first 2 years of a rebuild, you NEED an experienced HC to guide and mentor the young players. 

 

With Gus, you've got someone learning what it takes to be a head coach. 

 

Then you exacerbate the problem by having inexperienced coordinators. 

 

This is why you end up in a position like we are in - 1-10, 1-9 in three consecutive seasons, getting blown out game after game.
