Here's a scenario not far from a real possibility.
Missouri beats Alabama in the SEC championship game. Florida beats FSU. Miss St. moves up and TCU moves up to be with Oregon and Ohio St. In this case, Miss St. is in the playoff without winning the conference nor the division within their conference. Would the 4 best teams in the country be playing for the title? How can a team which didn't even win it's division be one of the 4 best when the division champion and conference champion are not in?
