Gene Smith and his effect on the current regime.

There were some really well thought out responses in this thread after the first few pages of insult throwing. Thanks for the good read.

Anyway

I feel like this rebuild is at the tipping point. This coaching staff will likely remain intact going into next season and the GM is damn sure not going anywhere. If they hit on their free agents and get 1 or 2 pieces in the draft we should have the talent to move to the middle of the NFL pack. However, I tend to agree with some of the posters here that talent may not be an issue. Rather the use of that talent has been poor.

I thought it would be interesting to look at the current roster and see how much young potential we have on this team. I will not be including veteran players (even great ones like Marks), this is just an excercise to see what may grow up over the next off season.

QB

Bortles

DB

I'm not sure what other posters feel, but I see some real young talent in that group. Not all of them will improve next year, but some of them will make big jumps. If the coaching staff cannot grow this group into a better team next year, then they should be replaced.

I will continue to be patient and try to set reasonable expectations for this rebuild, but the fans should expect to see certain benchmarks hit by the organization. the next one for me is to see our young talent grow into a respectable team.
