Caldwell made it clear in a preseason interview that the Mularkey firing was largely symbolic and had to happen to implement the "culture change" they decided was necessary. 

 

And really?  Gene Smith after one season?  C'mon.  He had a track record of horrible drafting and FA signings. It wasn't "one year" that sealed his fate.

 

Why in the world people bring up Fulham  when this topic is broached is absolutely beyond me.  There is absolutely zero correlation.  The NFL doesn't relegate teams.  The "scale of patience" for coaching and personnel changes in the Premier League is radically, radically different.
