I think this D-Line is equal to the Stroud Henderson years. Not quite as good against the run, but a little better against the pass. Either way a top unit in the NFL.

The reason that average was as low as it was in the first half was the aberrational -11 yard run.

 

The first half rushing totals for the Giants with that 11 yard loss factored in was 22-75...a 3.4 ypc average.  Without that run, the totals go at least to 21 carries for 86 yards...a4.09 YPC average. 

 

Yes you could argue the opposite, that if you remove the 17 yard TD, the numbers are lower, but an 11 yard rushing loss is far more of an aberration than a 17 yard rush.

 

The fact is, the Giants had a 19 play, 9 minute drive scoring drive.  Thirteen (13) of those plays were runs.

 

That drive is not the hallmark of a dominant run defense. 

 

Jacksonville is currently 26th against the rush.

 

That ranking is not the hallmark of a dominant run defense.

 

This current Jaguars defense is not the equal to that JDR defense.
