During the Talking Dead, the writer mentioned the second half really having a different feel and the show as a whole changing. I've not read the comics, but I'm really intrigued about them at least moving on to another set-of-wood somewhere other than GA.
 

I'm assuming they'll have Negan who was a pretty bad [BLEEP] villain, albeit probably a little too rough around the edges for AMC.
