Indeed. But it is the 21st century now. Why do we still have 18th century politics? This is the age of information. The world has become more and more transparent. The veil has been lifted so to speak. We no longer need rely on the Hearst's of the world to dictate our socioeconomic paradigm--we can see the world happen instantly on liveleak or a thread on reddit. So why are we still mired in empty rhetoric and obsolete politicking? Why does Rupert Murdoch and the Koch bros still influence our political world? I'd argue we are just a generation or two away from real progress--we must be or the world will pass us over. We must take the money out of politics. We must have the best people as leaders--not the absolute worst. We need philosopher-kings and not corporate shills. We need campaign reform. People are beginning to see this.
