Hatred and disrespect? C'mon, rj, this is American politics. This happens on both sides of every election. Mitt Romney was labeled a rich white guy unable to relate to Americans by many on the left. What's the difference? As for Palin, I'm not saying YOU'RE doing it because she's a woman; I'm saying that the same argument can be made for Palin that you're making for Obama. I know Obama holds more esteem in your mind, but I don't believe him to be as qualified as you do. I'm sure I can call him an idiot, too, but people have told me I'm racist for doing so. You're no more a sexist than I am a racist. These silly arguments have to stop. 

 

There haven't been many Presidents as divisive as Obama. Since I've only lived through 5 of them, and I've heard them called some of the most absurd names and comments, I don't know where you're getting the idea that Obama is some sort of exception. 

As mentioned earlier by another poster, I am sure not everyone dislikes or hates Obama because of his race or perceived religious leaning based on his name but you cannot deny there is a very large group that felt that way about him. This is undeniable. 

 

Dems disliked Palin because she either is or just comes across as stupid. People said that from the beginning where as the beginning of the hatred for Obama was because he was a muslim, or was not born here or was black. I do not claim to know the percentage of people that thought that way but anecdotaly it was sure a whole friggin lot of people I know in Florida.
