I really have to hand it to John Oesher (or whatever his last name is...). This guy says Mallory is a very good special teams coach. All any one who has watched the jags games this season can say to that is....huh? What have you been watching John because our special teams is a joke! Multiple blocked field goals, multiple blocked punts (with some returned for touch downs), no big returns by us on kick off's or punts. I see evidence on the field to support the notion that our special teams are not well prepared (see above mentioned 'FUBAR's) but I find little evidence on the field during a game to support the notion that Mallory is a 'good' special teams coach.

 

I suppose this could simply be a situation where the prerequisites in one persons mind is substantially different from that of the majority of other people. Perhaps Oesher feels that the only requirement to be a 'good' special teams coach is that they have a pulse and show up for the games. Seriously though, he does make a valid point with the question of 'with whom would we replace him who is proven to be better'? My response is we don't have to replace him with someone who is proven to be better... all we need at this point is someone who has no record of being as bad or worse at the job. I think Dave would have to go some to find someone who has a proven track record of being worse...
