In holding this position, I do not indict Cobb much, if at all, as a player.

 

The Jaguars already have three promising young WRs, two of whom were drafted high.

 

This is not counting former first round pick Justin Blackmon.

 

Signing Cobb would only serve to slow the development of these players, while taking resources (money, roster space) that could be better allocated elsewhere.

 

Isn't that taking principle and idealism a bit too far?  I don't see him as a detriment to development or a money/roster drain at all.

 

I seriously doubt Hurns, Lee, or Robinson would be hurt in any way by bringing a veteran of Cobb's presence into the locker room.  If anything, his presence this season would likely have put them on the field more, by giving them the rest they didn't have that likely lead to their injuries that limited some of their playing time.

 

Cobb would bring a responsible veteran leader into the locker room for them, and give the team an indispensable ST weapon.

 

WRs have almost gotten to be like DEs.  With so few gameday actives, you want just about every one on the roster to be a star.  Keep them fresh, and keep the opposition reeling.
