Hurns is a curious case, and I thought about this yesterday when it was announced that Jedd was let go. I think the common belief is that knowing Jedd's offense from Miami helped Hurns get acclimated to the NFL faster. This is probably true. However, if we believe that to be the case, doesn't that mean that had we kept Jedd, that all three wide receivers would be pretty much on even ground year 2? After all, that would give Lee and Robinson two off-seasons and one rookie year to know the playbook, right? So while Hurns likely would have had a slight advantage still heading into year 2 as far as knowledge of the playbook, it shouldn't be as drastic a difference.

 

So essentially, all three would be on even playing field regardless of whether they all had the same knowledge of the same playbook...or the same knowledge (or lack) of a new playbook.

 

Come next season, all would be 2nd year vets and should know expectations for them in the NFL. The only difference is how fast each of them absorbs the new playbook and their own respective skills. The 1st one will be a question, but I think Hurns showed he has the requisite skill set to play in this league.
