From the moment when I was 8 years old that I became familiar with the Lions, including the team tradition, uniforms, players, and how that season was going,  I became a fan of the team. Most people become fans of a team before they are 10 years old and remain a fan of the team regardless of what transpires with the team. It's part of you. An exception for some is in the case of a team like the Jaguars, which was an expansion team. For one or more reasons, some start rooting for an expansion team when they are older. Including an expansion team being close to home or wanting a fresh start.  Like most thngs in life, it's a matter of preference. For me, while I have interest in following all 32 teams to some degree, some more than others, there's only one team I'll ever be a fan of. While i will never question you for rooting for 3 teams, it's not possible for me and the majority of people to be a fan of more than one team in the same league.
