Minnesota wouldn't let him leave for a lateral move. They don't even have to let him leave to become a coordinator, but it's pretty standard etiquette (unless you're the Bucs) to let a guy go if he's being promoted. Calling him "assistant coodinator" or "assistant head coach" probably wouldn't be enough to overcome the fact that he's still a running backs coach at his new team.

I think the real argument in Wilson's favor would be that he helped cobble together a solid running game with the dynamic duo of Jerick McKinnon and Mat Asiata. That's an impressive accomplishment by itself, made even more so by the Adrian Peterson situation casting a shadow over the running game.
