I'm not arguing that this isn't true, but I think you need to look at guys who are among the best in the league this year who were not picked in the 2nd or 3rd rounds like Justin Forsett, Arian Foster, or Alfred Morris.  All were taken in the 6th round or later (Foster was undrafted). 

 

If you've got a scouting staff worth it's salt, and a GM who trusts their analysis, you can find guys outside of that rd. 2-3 window to offer competition to DRob and Gerhart.

 

Do any of you think that just maybe Caldwell isn't going to share precisely what he plans to do in the draft in advance?

I think people are really putting a lot of weight into a comment made by the GM here thinking this is a clear indication we're not going after a running back in the draft.  It's like they completely ignore the track record of the GM not tipping his hand so they can speculate now what will happen in a few months.   We weren't taking a QB in the draft last year with that 3rd pick if you listened to Caldwell.  I don't trust much of anything he says from the point the season ends until the day after the conclusion of the draft.
