Owner of St. Louis Rams plans to build NFL stadium in L.A.

#73

Quote:The Jaguars have averaged less than 5 wins per season the last 7 seasons. All things considering, including the team's record, numerous coaching changes, 3 different GMs, two different owners, and the loss of a home game to London in recent seasons, the Jaguars fan support has been very good. There would be no justification for the team to move, based on what has transpired with the team in recent seasons.

Having said all of this, it's important to keep attempting to expand the Jaguars fan base in the Jacksonville area and Secondary markets. With corporate/ business support a very important component that's necessary to keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville over the long haul.

One other thought. Because Jacksonville is a smaller market than St. Louis, I think it's in the best interest of both Jacksonville and the Jaguars that no other major league franchise becomes part of the area's landscape. I'm referring to MLB, NBA,  or NHL. Having another pro team in town would take away too much corporate/ business support from Jacksonville. Having an NFL franchise should be the priority and I believe it is.

Didn't the Rams also have two different owners in the last 7 years? They were previously owned by a woman who died of breast cancer.

Of course the Jaguars and their fans have shown much greater support for the Weavers because of their commitment to Jacksoinville. Rams fans have no reason to support the man who will move the team out of St. Louis. How many fans in the Los Angeles area continued to support the Rams after December 24, 1994? I think if the current owner was committed to St. Louis, there would be fewer empty seats at the Edward Jones Dome. Now there is nothing to make them more interested in the Rams than the Cardinals, who IIRC went to the World Series two years ago, and Blues.

Your point on no MLB, NBA, or NHL teams in Jacksonville makes me wonder how ticket sales are affected in metropolitan areas with more than one of those four leagues. Has anyone ever researched this?
