I love the running game, its the reason I watch football and Ive watched countless videos of great backs from the past - Payton, Sayers, Sanders, Smith, Campbell, Csonka, Brown, OJ, Bo, Fred Taylor, etc over and over. When I had NFL rewind I basically just watched the best RB matchups, but if you are talking about being a GM and making decisions to win games it just isn't a position that is worth a high pick. I would not take a GUARANTEED Adrian Peterson in the first round over POSSIBLY having a star DE, lineman, CB, playmaking FS, etc. The difference in production for a team between a mid tier back and an incredibly high end back are not big enough to warrant taking a RB in the first 3-4 rounds no matter how good he is. Getting Barry Sanders in the 4th is probably worth it, but someone that good will not be around that long, some sucker will take him in the first.
