I believe most of the NFL coaches would kick the FG in both occasions, especially in 1st quarter of the playoff game on the road. What IF they did go for it on 4th&1 twice and didn't get any points out of it? If they would lose for 1 or 2 points, most of the fans would say Mike McCarthy made a mistake for not kicking a FG at least once. McCarthy and his coaching staff made mistakes later, but I don't think his decision was wrong at that time. 

 

All good points, but the fumble recovery could not have been predicted at the time Mike McCarthy sent Mason Crosby out. McCarthy obviously was playing it safe, knowing how good Seattle's defense is in the red zone. I don't think it was a bad decision either time, just wish the Packers were able to get in the end zone on third down.
