You see, the problem is, in theory, if you could make people pay for their mistakes, you could have your libertarian society with zero socialism. But we are too soft hearted to watch people suffer for their mistakes. If people are starving, we will feed them. Why not make them save up some money for their old age? The alternative is that the more soft hearted among us wind up taking care of them because they never prepared for the future. So I am all in favor of forcing people to save their money for their old age. It gets me off the hook for either supporting them or watching them starve.

They've openly admitted they don't have the money to pay out in the near future. So at some point people that have been forced their entire working life to pay in will get squat. That's the thing with Ponzi schemes eventually the well runs dry and the sap at the end gets shafted


Government isn't saving that money for you their using it to fund operations and sticking an IOU in your back pocket.
