Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC
|
Track record for an OC is almost meaningless, because it can pretty much be entirely summed up by "Who was his QB"? Josh McDaniels was an up and coming offensive genius when he coached Tom Brady. Then went to Denver and became an offensive dullard when he had to coach Kyle Orton and Tebow. Then magically rediscovered his genius status when he went back to New England and coached Brady again. Just like Charlies Weis went from offensive genius to washed up has been just about the time he stopped coaching Tom Brady. Funny how that works.
A lot of teams have in essence co-coordinator duties between a "running game coordinator" and "passing game coordinator" in weekly gameplanning and preperation, and the passing game coordinator usually handles playcalling duties because it's the most complexity and involvement. Sounds like the Jags will have a similar split in duties between Marrone and Olson. |
