Bad people are going to do bad things, it's why we need some sort of law enforcement and it's why people should be able to defend themselves at all times. A mother watching the video of their son being killed doesn't change any of that. Now we could question how this man might have been raised and why he became a bad person?
That would require a deeper look into the story however. 

That's kind of what I was getting at. 

 

A lot of these folks look the other way when bad habits are being taught at an early age because they don't want to think of their kid as being bad, or maybe they're too busy trying to scrape a living together to notice or be bothered. This behavior is tolerated and looked over and when the kid gets shot and/or killed for breaking the law it's all about the kid "never did anything wrong" a la Michael Brown. 

 

It's the same with indulging your kid's every whim and not controlling the behavior that comes along with it, then wondering why they grew up to be selfish and have an entitlement attitude. 

 

The majority of how a young adult turns out is based on the environment in which they were raised. Not always, but most of the time.
