Being that a large part of the right wing base won't come out to vote for a moderate (  2008 and 2012 come to mind ),  it's going to be difficult to win elections with these type of candidates.   At least someone truly on the right will run the type of campaign that will tell the truth to a very large extent about what the opposition has done and is attempting to do.   Ted Cruz immediately comes to mind.    If I'm going to lose,   I rather go out swinging than in essence crawling under a hole.
