Have you been to New York vs LA LA Land?  Seriously it is no comparison.  You hit the fall/winter in New York there is a lot less to do that doesn't involve indoor activities.  New York city area is very populated in a close area compared to the sprawl of LA.  Plus LA is a lot more transient.

Growing up in New York and traveling, I could really go on and on about why NY is a rabid fan base compared to all things LA.
