The Mariota hype reminds me of the Blaine Gabbert hype - you look at it in wonder as you don't understand where its coming from when you actually watch the player play and he doesn't look impressive. 

Gabbert was overrated, but guys that are 6' 4", athletic with big arms don't grow on trees.

 

MM is on another level though. He actually produced in college and has so much more upside than Gabbert, I really don't get the comparison. Gabbert also regressed in his last year of college, MM is just getting better.

 

Just because he's not operating in a pro style system doesn't mean he isn't impressive. He's running that offense as good as anyone could expect. Not saying there's no risk involved, but to say he's not impressive is just plain silly.
