I don't know if I agree with Mayock's listing of Scherff as a G (though I have yet to see the combine measurements).

 

You're right, this is not a stance I would normally take if I didn't see the top of this draft as somewhat weak.

 

I believe outside of Williams, there's no "must have" guy at pick three.

 

It's why I think the second best choice to him is trading back.

 

If not, you have to make the "safest" pick of what I see as pretty much equal (but lesser) value at that point.  And, which you might infer from my stance, I don't see value for us as three if it's not Williams or a trade.  I think there's a significant drop off after Williams, and when all else is equal you aren't reaching if you're going for need.

 

Mayock seems worried about his struggles against the pass rush.  "Sumo" is a word I've seen describing his less than perfect technique.  I think that's why he's pegged him at G.  No one disagrees he's a mauler/road grader, though.
