Time to make drastic changes or stay the course?

Quote:I disagree we need to see a major improvement in the team by the end of year 2 or it's time to move on. I'm not saying we have to be division winners or in the playoffs but this team should be competitive for 16 games and able to resemble an NFL roster in 2 years time.
i was speaking in terms of normal GM's life spans which avg well over 2 years, but i do agree with you to a point... there is no way we can field another roster like this one and have a season even close to what we had over the last 2 years... but i think in order to truly build a team to last you have to follow the process of bringing in good fitting and youthful guys that you develop properly and dont bust your cap like the cowboys or bucs... i like what cleveland and seattle have done, they didnt go and buy wilson or that cameron TE guy... they drafted well and are benefiting from it... we need to get our QB first off, then start piecing the puzzle together but i do believe it is essential not to rush... if you go out and grab as many high profile FA's as you can, it doesnt mean you are going to win and if it fails, you will end having to slice into your roster for cap room... for these reason i would give caldwell more time but i think you would have to see at least development from the young guys who are around now for people to see his process is working... so yes, if we suck this bad next year, obviously dave's idea isnt working, but i dont think i need to see a playoff team next year to give caldwell another chance, like i said, just some improvement from the young guys now and a competitive team that isnt an embarrassment will work for me.
