How we become an Unstoppable Offensive Juggernaut

Quote:Yes, you read right. I believe that we can become an unstoppable offensive force, and all it will take is a 17.5 million cap hit to sign 4 players as well as only using 2 of our 7 draft picks on offensive players. Basically, with 44.5 million in cap space remaining and 5 picks we could devote to defense, we could still have the leagues best offense. Actually, with the one draft pick I'm being overly greedy, so it could be 6 draft picks. To make sure this all worked out, I looked into what players we were connected with, their projected contract predictions, and then used the manage the cap tool on fanspeak to give those contracts to lower tier guys who would accept it no matter what in order to see how the money played out, thus giving me the figures above.

The signings:

C-Stefen Wisniewski

TE-Julius Thomas

WR-Jeremy Maclin

RT-Bryan Bulaga

Draft Picks:

R2: TE-Maxx Williams

R3: RB-Duke Johnson

The free agent signings are all guys that we have been connected to and all of them have fairly decent chances of hitting the market. Now it just becomes getting them to sign.

Wisniewski is a top-10 center and would be a massive upgrade over Bowanko. Bowanko did decent last year, but he was meant to be a backup. In the end, the guy he was backing up was so terrible that he got cut making Bowanko the starter. Again, he did decent, but when you were meant to backup a guy that ended up being so terrible he got cut, I think you welcome the signing of an established top-10 center.

I could see us getting any of the top 3 FA TE, but it seems like most pundits see us going for the top target hardest in Thomas.

I've seen a lot of experts connect us to Maclin, because we could use a veteran, burner such as himself to help stretch the field for Bortles and the rookies. which Maclin could do.

With RT, we could sign anyone of Free, Bulaga, or even Barksdale and it would be a massive upgrade. Again, went for the gusto, but we should get at least 1 of the 3.

With the draft picks, we get a massive upgrade at RB with what some experts describe as a LeSean McCoy clone. We would get a franchise running back with tremendous speed that could break any play for a TD and the effective capability to be a receiver out of the backfield. With Maxx Williams, yes I am being greedy here. They say a TE is a quarterback's best friend, but who says you can only have one best friend? Both Julius Thomas and Maxx Williams are match up nightmares. Julius Thomas himself can make a defense sweat trying to figure out how to cover him and Maxx Williams is projected to be the same way. I know most teams only have 1 true receiving TE, but I was thinking of the havoc these two could have on opposing defenses and couldn't stop drooling at the prospect. If nothing else, Maxx Williams is there if Thomas gets hurt.

Basically, we massively upgrade the line adding a top-10 center as well as a much better RT regardless of which of the 3 we get, but a top 10 RT should it be Bulaga. In addition to this much better protection for Bortles, he gains a reliable, veteran, burner to stretch the field in Maclin as well as match up night mares in Thomas and Williams. Finally, it all gets wrapped up with a franchise caliber running back with all the speed to break any run for a TD as well as a solid receiving option out of the backfield. Between Lee/Hurns/Blackmon/Robinson/Maclin/Thomas/Williams/Johnson being able to rotate as necessary and just run rough shod over the opposing defense, Bortles would be given every single mean to succeed. He would almost have to be trying to suck to actually suck. Hell, even Henne could probably win the division and a couple of playoff games with these incoming players added to the offense. The best thing is, we would still have 5 draft picks as well as almost 45 million to work on the defense. Also, the best part is that this is actually all within the realm of possibility. This isn't some far-fetched dream. This could all really happen, because as I stated we are connected with all these players and are supposedly willing to spend. Right now, I'm picturing Bortles standing behind an offensive line giving him plenty of time to pass as he systematically destroys a defense. 25 yard pass to Jeremy Maclin. 10 yard pass to Marqise Lee. 10 yard pass to Allen Robinson. 15 yard pass to Allen Hurns. 10 yard pass to Justin Blackmon. 10 yard TD pass to Julius Thomas. Jaguars go 80 yards in 6 plays and 2:30, as the defense has absolutely no clue what happened to them, time and time again.
I like it.  Especially the pairing of Julius Thomas and Maxx Williams at TE.  If we got Blackmon back AND got Maclin, our receiving group would be awesome.  Blackmon, Maclin, Robinson, Lee, Thomas, Williams and Harbor....whoa!  For running downs, we might need to bring in an extra OT though, cause none of those would be the blocking TE Lewis is, but I won't miss him.

I might replace Duke Johnson with Jay Ajayi in the 3rd if he was still there though.  Ajayi, Gerhart, Robinson rotating and keeping fresh legs in the game, much like Detroit with Bush, Bell and Riddick.

Bulaga and Wisniewski would be awesome additions to the line and help in pass protection and run blocking.  Bortles would have no excuse if he were not twice as good this year.
