I (and a multitude of others) view the chances of Justin Blackmon coming back at the same level of performance we had witnessed during his short playing history in the NFL as being improbable. Not impossible, but improbable... not likely to happen. The reasons behind this are:

1. He is viewed as unreliable! We don't know that if the day after he is allowed back on the roster (if he manages to make the roster...) that he won't be busted on a urinalysis test, or that he won't be stopped for a DUI. He is a high risk player on a team who doesn't need any more risky players.

2. He has not been allowed to be involved in any team activities for a year. We don't even know if he has done anything to keep in 'football' shape. The team has changed in the time he's been banned; new coaches, players, play book. It is simply unreasonable to expect him to come back from what he's been through ( and make no mistake... for an alcohol addict, withdrawal is physically and mentally brutal) and excel at a pro level right away. It will take time, if he can do it at all, to get back to where he was, much less get better.

It's not impossible for Justin Blackmon to climb this mountain... but, it's going to be a long, steep mountain. Few could over come these odds; that's why I and others say it's not probable that he will be able to live up to the expectation for which he was drafted to come here. I hope he beats the odds and comes back at a high level of performance... I'm just not holding my breath expecting it to happen.
