Now can we be realistic about Blackmon

Quote:They are saying that Dave (GM) is trying to get a 3rd round pick for Justin Blackmon from the Ravens...

Chaulk this up to meaningless speculation resulting from that PFW article based on sheer stupidity about the Jaguars possibly trading Blackmon. Caldwell wasn't about to trade Justin. Any team would have jumped on such a trade offer, and the trade deadline has since passed.

I'm still excited as ever about Blackmon. Don't forget that he's got Henne throwing him the ball, and keep in mind how big that one drop was where he turned his head too fast. That was actually a great pass with Justin taking full credit for the extremely rare drop by him. Had he caught that, he'd have been off for a huge TD and we'd be talking about yet another monumental day for Justin with him still leading the league in every receiving category on a per game basis.

While I realize this is a hypothetical since he didn't actually catch it, I want to put into perspective what not dropping that pass probably means. Looking at the play-by-play, it's tough for me to tell exactly which one play it was, but all of the "incomplete short right" passes to Blackmon that were early enough had the team between the 25 and 28 yards lines...two of them were at the 25, so I'll go with that. In other words, I'm convinced that would have been a 75-yard TD pass added to his stats.

As it is Blackmon is still averaging over 100 yards per game, but tack on this one pass and his stats look like:  4 starts, 30 rec, 490 yards, 16.3 avg, 75T long, 2 TD. That would have left him with an average of 7.5 receptions per game and 122.5 yards per game. To put this into perspective, Calvin Johnson is averaging 6.7 receptions per game and 117.3 yards per game.

Of course he didn't catch that pass, so let me quickly point out where Justin actually stands with:  4 starts, 29 rec, 415 yards, 14.3 avg, 67T long, 1 TD...

His 103.8 yards per game ranks 3rd behind CJ and Julio Jones, and his 7.25 rec per game ranks 2nd behind Antonio Brown with 8.
