If Lewis is still here when the dust settles, he'll play under the contract he's got.  If he's gone, it's because they've found a way to upgrade that position either through free agency or the draft. 
 

It's obvious to anyone with a functioning brain Lewis won't be on the roster next year at his current salary, I don't care how much cap space the Jaguars have, his play doesn't warrant the contract. If Marcedes was a FA of another team would you be ok with the Jaguars paying him $8M/year? I didn't think so, there's no reason to pay $8M to an ineffective TE, with your logic we might as well bring back MJD at a base of $6M/year, after all the Jaguars can afford it.
