Not necessarily.  They have enough cap space to front-load the contract of one or two big signings so that cutting them in 2017 (if need be)  won't leave so much dead money against the cap. 

 

The only catch is that you don't want to give a player with a questionable work ethic a front-loaded contract - so they must carefully examine each potential FA player with that in mind. (No one wants a Jerry Porter/Albert Haynesworth money grab & disappear act in Jax)

 

I think this is one of the reasons they hired Idzik. One more money-minded guy getting crafty with the upcoming FA contracts.
