03/08/15 - S Sergio Brown, unrestricted FA update, is a good backup player in the secondary who can start if needed. Brown did that quite well last season when LaRon Landry was suspended for four games by the league. He wound up with 33 total tackles and six passes broken up. How good was Brown? Landry had a heck of a time regaining his starting position late in the season.

Brown impressed last season, posting an overall grade of +4.7 on 541 snaps including the playoffs. That’s the most we’ve seen on him, so there is some risk involved, but it looks like the Jaguars are willing to take that chance.

McCourty had just over double the PFF grade on almost exactly double the snaps. Seems like another signing like Parnell, House, and Skuta who were PFF studs in ~1/2 time roles who could be nice upgrades if that play continues with an expanded role.
