Veteran trades reveal a weak draft class

Quote:This thread has me thinking about trading down.

Most of the talk and speculation surrounds the idea that a QB hungry team would trade up to our pick to get either Winston or Mariota.

But what teams looking for defensive help might be willing to deal up to our spot?

New Orleans just acquired Seattle's first round pick in the aftermath of the Graham trade, and their GM declared they need defensive help.

They now have picks 13 & 31 in the first round, pick 12 (44th overall) in the 2nd round, and pick 11 (75th overall) in the 3rd.

Chicago has rarely traded up, but they are completely reconstructing their defense, moving to a 3-4 after generations of being a 4-3 team, and need players all over the defense.

Atlanta has a desperate need for a pass rusher, and Washington may want to ensure they get the guy they want to replace Orakpo.  Both of these teams have demonstrated a willingness to move up.

If we moved down to the 7-13 range, given who we have signed in free agency thus far, who would you target?

I'd target one of the RDEs to play LEO.

The problem with picking one is, the pass rush group is so full of tweeners it's hard to tell which would actually be successful as a LEO.  All seem uncomfortably risky to me.

Instead of pass rusher, we could also look for our WR1 or FS.

None of which I think are worth pick #3.  If we (can) move down, we've got many more options.
