Jamie Dukes and Colleen Wolfe of NFL Network: Not big fans of Dave Caldwell or his moves as Jags GM

Quote:Pretty much every player you mentioned besides Dayrl Smith have flopped since their departure from Jacksonville. Cox is not in the league, injury prone and was way over hyped. Montel Owens.....really? Your complaining he let a backup special teamer go? Pot Roast was a good player yes but he could never keep his weight down and is struggling to get a long term deal because of it. He's not exactly a "all pro" either. Monroe is so hot and cold its not even funny, he's definitely solid and as of now better than Joekel, but Monroe was leaving at the seasons end, that much was clear. We got compensation for him before he departed which was good if you ask me. I think Dave Caldwell would be the first to tell you he made a mistake letting Smith walk, but the team was in pretty bad shape when he took it over and maybe just starting completely fresh was best. I don't think any team is perfect and looking back on it, it was probably a better idea to keep a veteran on the team like Daryl Smith, who can still play at a top level in this league.

You really are just playing the name game, you don't recognize some of the names we brought in. Odrick by the way is a very good player and a complete upgrade over Red Bryant, who by the way, struggled last year. His career is winding down while Odrick is entering his prime. Yea, we probably over paid the guy, but if you look at the contracts of all the players we brought in, they are all team friendly and we can dump them, in necessary after year 2. Odrick has no bonuses and after these first two years, he can have his deal restructured if necessary. You realize also the Jags have to spend to the cap? Lewis is a good player who is overly criticized on the team. His entire career he was handicapped to run blocking because we were a run first team. He was a good pass catching TE, he's getting older and his production has dipped. I don't know about you but i still saw some great catches last season from him. Someone like Julius Thomas on the other side of him can probably take some of the weight of his back and maybe he has a solid season this year. Maybe he can focus a bit more on run blocking and maybe as the second TE, we get a much better Marcedes. Its his last year on his deal and no matter what anyone says, he's a good player. Thomas and Lewis can combine to be one lethal TE duo. Maybe he resigns at seasons end on a cheaper deal as we have taken care of him his whole career.

I think your being way to negative on the team. I think this front office has done a very good job so far. Now we need to see if the main pieces can fit into the puzzle. Bortles.
Im not being negative just being realistic. Only thing negatives are the amount of wins the jags have had over the past 2 season. Im on board with some of the moves the front office are doing mainly Julius Thomas! But come on man our fans have become punching bag and soft! Everyone so use to losing they desperately accept everything that goes on around here. No hard feelings but i dont!
