What is there to let him believe that the Jaguars are on track to improve? There are no signs of steady improvement as far as wins and losses, which at the end of the day is what matters. Sure, there can be hope but it's not his job to be hopeful for the Jaguars. Ultimately, it's up to the Jaguars to win and change peoples' perceptions.

 

If he made these general comments about the Raiders (not making the right moves to build the team), he would be right in most peoples' opinions, except the Raider fans would be upset and argue otherwise. I think the same thing is happening here.

 

Easy to say if you're just looking at the record and not what is happening to the roster.  Turnover results in losses, period, paragraph.  Any rational evaluation of the roster today compared with where it was 3 years ago would clearly indicate an uptick.  It's younger but much more talented.  Not all of Caldwell's decisions have panned out but that's how it goes.  Ultimately it's about the kind of roster you can put together.  In two years, when this team is contending (if not a favorite) for the Superbowl, you won't hear a word from these critics.
