*** UPDATE *** ***Draft Details - Absentee GMs - Penalty - Selection Process - Final Step***

With less than a month til the actual draft I felt the need to button this one up. I received responses from over half the league and have made decisions based off of these responses.

Draft Details / Absentee GMs

Based on feedback I received we will be holding this 3 round mock draft at 12:00 pm EST over the course of three consecutive Sundays. There were only two people who responded who indicated this would be a schedule conflict. Instead of assigning a date for when the draft will take place, I am setting a condition. Once all 32 mock GMs complete the Final Step at the end of this post, the draft will be set in motion and will commence on the following Sunday. 

Mock GMs unable to attend the live draft can send wish lists of available players to me and I will make the selection on their behalf. As we are breaking this up into three separate weeks, and most GMs are only making one selection per week, it should be fairly easy to determine who might be available in that slot and who likely would not. As mentioned, this will be a rapid fire draft where mock GMs have three minutes to make their pick so we can wrap up in 96 minutes. I will not be a tyrant with clock management, but truly all mock GMs should have an idea of who they will take based on availability going into this and I don’t expect too many people to take the full three minutes. I will have the final say on any hiccups in the process, but will follow majority rule unless I feel there is a strong reason not to.

Penalty

I posed the question as to whether or not there should be a vote to determine who people feel had the worst mock draft. This would be a sig or avatar bet to last one week and would be voted on by all other mock GMs. I received one response that was against this, a couple who did not care either way, and several who were for it and a few who were enthusiastically for it as they feel it adds accountability to the draft. Therefore, there will be a penalty for the mock GM voted to have had the worst draft.* This “penalty” should be in good fun and not malicious. I realize there is a fine line here and I will make sure when voting takes place on what this actual penalty is, I will make sure it is in this spirit.

*The mock GM for Buffalo is at the disadvantage in that he has no first round pick. This needs to be taken into consideration when tallying votes. I am considering making this mock GM exempt from the penalty.

Making a Pick / Reasoning

There will be a separate thread created and pinned to the top of this forum which will be clearly designated as a thread only to make draft selections in. One element from last year’s draft we have discussed and I agree would be great to bring back was adding a brief write up about why you made the pick. When making a selection, please follow the following two step process

Step 1 – Access the thread designated for draft picks only and make your selection known by using this format and example:

NAME - POSITION – SCHOOL

Jameis Winston – QB – Florida State

Then immediately click the POST button. This step is vital to keeping the pace of the draft moving.

Step 2 – Go back in and edit the post you just made announcing your pick and feel free to add whatever you want to say about your pick and why you made it. Bash the mock GM in front of you who took the guy you wanted. Sell why you feel this was the best move for the team you are assigned. This is your space. By keeping all of this contained to one thread, it really does make for a cool read when it is all said and done.

Note: No other comments should go in the “selections only” thread. I will also create a mock draft lounge where everyone can praise or pan picks and the typical forum debates can take place.

*** FINAL STEP ***

Below are the names of all the mock GMs and the alternates. All mock GMs need to respond to this post or message me with a numerical response to the below Final Step options. Once all 32 mock GMs confirm the path they would like to choose on this Final Step, I will randomly assign teams and create new threads to manage the mock draft more efficiently.

#1 - I can work with this schedule and am confirming my desire and ability to take part in this rapid fire mock draft commencing at 12:00 pm EST over the course of three consecutive Sundays as a LIVE PARTICIPANT. By choosing this option I agree to follow the selection process steps outlined above to keep the flow of the draft moving.

#2 - I have a scheduling conflict with this day and time, but would still like to take part in the mock draft as an Absentee GM. Once teams have been assigned and I know where I am in the draft order, I will send a number of selections ranking in order players I would like to select based on availability. I will then go back at my convenience and update the thread with any additional comments I would like to add about my selection.

#3 - I cannot participate in the mock draft under this format for (insert reason here) and would like to have one of the Alternates assume GM duties for the team I was going to be assigned.
