To be honest, I'm surprised you're against Home Owners Associations.  Especially since they're very local, and you can always live in a neighborhood that doesn't have an HOA (though those are becoming fewer and far between).  A couple of our neighbors wanted to start an HOA, and thankfully we have enough people who said... well I can't use that language here.  But the last word was 'off'.
