<div>Hello all. After 30 years as a diehard Bucs fan, I am switching teams. So, I have a few questions for veteran Jags fans (if you'll indulge me):
What site has the best news, inside info, and active forum - is it this one?
I am going to watch the games from last season before the draft. What are the Jags strengths and weaknesses?
I know Bortles was drafted early in the first last year and had ups and downs this past season. What is the fan base's consensus on him?
Thanks for anything you guys/gals offer!

30 years a Bucs fan? Ouch! There's a whole lot of PTSD therapy that's going to be needed. I remember going down to the old sombrero for games years ago. I had a friend here in Jax whose family owned season tickets to the Bucs. They'd occasionally go to the games, and I went a few times. It was quite a spacious place to see a game back in the day. Anyone who is grinding and complaining about the Jaguars struggles over the past 7 or 8 years has no idea what true suffering is. Tampa Bay was so bad for practically a quarter century!
This site is probably the best source for getting news and information on the team, and this forum is by far and away the most active message board related to the Jags. Most of the others have died off over the years.
Jaguars strengths? The defensive line, our young receivers, some of our linebackers and DBs, and the stadium.
Jaguars weaknesses? Youth and inexperience, pieces of the offensive line, the rest of the linebackers, the return game.
There are other strengths and weaknesses, but this covers most of them in a nutshell.
Some here have highlighted the fact that the Jags are in year 3 of a pretty significant rebuild. Honestly, it's not a rebuild. They tore this thing down to the foundations and started an entirely new build. The approach they've taken annoys some fans here who have the patience and attention span of a gnat. But, over the long haul, the hope is that this building through the draft approach will net them far better results that are more sustainable. Time will tell.
As Bortles goes, so goes the team. He's taking the right approach this off season coming off a rookie season where we saw both good and bad. He showed enough to think the Jags finally got their QB, and hopefully he will show significant improvement on the field this year. The team has made it clear they're going to do everything they can to build the team around him, and with the off season moves this year to bring in a TE and RT, and with moves we expect to see in the draft, they're going to make sure he has every opportunity to thrive.
In years past, we've seen the team not so focused on assuring the centerpiece of the franchise is given every weapon necessary to succeed. This front office has shown they're determined to build a team that can be successful. It hasn't shown up in wins yet, but they'll come.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
