Now some people might have believed him because he was black but that was only part of the equation. Herman Cain was also running but he was promising the opposite less free stuff this he didn't even get the nomination.

 

There were a lot of reasons Obama was elected.   One of the main ones was who he was running against.   Sometimes, people vote for what they perceive as the lesser of two evils.   I know a lot of people who say they voted for Obama because of Palin.   They had an open mind until that point, but that was the nail in the coffin.    In my case, any chance of voting for McCain went away completely when he put Palin on the ticket.   That move told me McCain's slogan "country first" was a lie.
