Our defense was probably last in pressures because we were playing from behind every game.  Time and time again, good offenses make even average defenses look good when they get to rush the passer more than just a handful of times per game.

 

If our offense can force opposing offenses to pass more on early downs then you will see our defense improve by leaps and bounds simply by getting to rush on 3rd and longs and when playing with leads.  It's hard to generate many pressures when teams are playing possession football against us most of every game.
You make a fair point, I just think there are very good options at WR later in the draft. It's very possible that someone like McBride/Hardy/Smelter/etc. is available on day 3 even. Not the same with pass rushers.
