No team should move up or down in the draft without having a player targeted for their new spot.   So what player fits for us at pick #8?    Assuming the two QBs get drafted first and second overall, can you name 6 more players we would like to draft, so we would be assured of having a player fall to us at pick # 8?  

 

I can.   In no particular order,  Williams, Fowler, Cooper, White, Beasley, Gurley.   We would wind up with one of those. 

 

So let's say we make the deal because we would be assured of getting a player we want at # 8.   And then the draft goes like this:   Winston, Mariota, Fowler, Cooper, Williams, White, Beasley.   Who is your pick?   Gurley?  Dupree?   Trae Waynes?  Scherff?  Devante Parker? 

Gurley, White, Parker and Waynes in that order.

 

Bortles needs help, first and foremost.

 

While the receivers we drafted /acquired last year were a good start, Bortles needs more weapons to take the pressure off of him.  One of the best ways to help a young QB is to give him a running game.  I think with the addition of Parnell and Wisniewski, the offensive line should be improved enough to provide that running game.  However, as impressive as Robinson looked at times last year, to me he is more of a change of pace type of back.  Gurley can be that every down, between the tackles type of back.  The only concern I have is the knee.  By all accounts his knee checks out fine, but I am somewhat fearful that he won't be the Gurley we watched at Georgia until sometime next year.  Otherwise, I think under this scenario, he would be a great fit.

 

You could make the argument that despite the influx of receivers last year, we still need a number 1 guy to make the receiving corps complete.  Enter White, who has drawn some comparisons to Larry Fitzgerald.  I see him more as a cross between Fitzgerald and Julio Jones.  Nevertheless, adding him to our group would give us a formidable group.  My concern here is that West Virgina WRs historically have not fared very well, but this guy has the best combination of size, speed, and overall ability than any of his predecessors.

 

Parker would be the next choice, for many of the same reasons listed above.  Bortles needs help, Parker could be a stud #1 WR.

 

Waynes could fill the FS position very well, and give versatility to play CB.  He's got good size and speed, and played good competition in the Big Ten.
