Quote:Yes government can certainly be horrible. But I'd take a democratic republic over the ownership class any day... Yes. A limited government limits the power of corporations. GE has no reason to buy politicians if they have no power. I was just thinking of NASA. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In 1970 we had spacecraft to put a man on the moon. 45 years of NASA Space 'development' and we can't even put a man into low Earth orbit. In 1970 the state of the art airplane was the 747, and the 737 was one of the most popular models. 45 years of NASA Aeronautics 'development' and the 747 is still the state of the art aircraft (which is why Air Force 1 is not a 777 or 787) and the 737 is the most popular model. The Energy department is another example. Their one main task at start up was to make the US enegy independent. After 35+ years of failure, why are the hard-earned dollars of hard working taxpayers still being funneled into that rat hole? This is what happens with government agencies. They start out well intentioned and maybe even somewhat successful, and soon devolve into self-serving bureaucracies. The only solution is to give every agency a limited lifespan and stick to it. But the bureaucracy is so powerful that that will never happen. We are subjects of an out of control bureaucracy. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" |
