I guess I should reserve my judgement for this preseason but he is certainly capable of better play than what he displayed last year, all things considered. The scenario of him coming into the game for Bortles and continuing to play like that scares me.

How much of that was on Henne, and how much of it was simply the fact that we had all sorts of line troubles, a very young receiving corps, and no running game to speak of?  Is that all his fault because he checked out?

 

Henne is the best option to back up Bortles.  He hasn't mentally checked out.  If he's called upon, there are plenty of incentives for him to do well, bot contractually with escalators, and for future reference if he wants a job in the league beyond this year.
