Conch House Brawl, Isn't That Where MoJo Had An Issue?

#39

Quote:Probably. I'm not in FL often enough to know for sure - and I'm on the wrong side of 40 to know what people think "nightlife" is supposed to be these days.  I know they're doing it wrong at the Conch House.  That's for sure.

I've had a good time at a number of Jax live music venues/bars on recent trips.  Had to endure a few amateur alcoholics, but no violence.

99.999% of the places like this in Jax are violence free.  In the case of the Conch House, recent reports where violence has flared up usually revolves around bouncers being aggressive.  I've been to larger venues where you've got a diverse crowd, plenty of alcohol flowing, and live bands playing and the security staff is well behaved.  Amazingly, nobody winds up getting a beat down from the bouncers.  If there are problems, they usually handle it so professionally that only those immediately around the situation are aware of what's going on.

You're right.  There are always going to be a few amateur drunks to contend with, but the staff usually is trained to recognize a situation and they deal with it before it escalates.

I've seen security at larger venues like EverBank diffuse a situation where drunk and/or unruly fans got into brawls where the cops were able to end the fight without ever having to raise a hand.

Watching the video from the Conch House, these bouncers looked like a traveling band of thugs just looking to decompress their roid rage.  These weren't professional security people.  They're wanna be MMA fighters.  Big difference.  A friend of mine (former pro wrestler) who owns a security company in NYC protecting celebrities and other notables would never allow his guys to get out of control like this.  Too much liability.  When you see the way some of these people were knocked out cold by bouncers, imagine the crap storm if one of those people died from their injuries?  Conch House would cease to exist in pretty short order, either because lawsuits would bankrupt them, or because people would stop coming to the place.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
